The United States continues its 2022 World Cup preparation with a trip to El Salvador in CONCACAF Nations League play.

Gregg Berhalter steered the USMNT to a 5-0 win over Grenada in Austin to open Nations League play on Friday night, with Jesus Ferreira scoring four goals and his FC Dallas teammate Paul Arriola bagging the other.

The U.S. boss has already confirmed he will rotate the squad for the trip to El Salvador, giving other players a chance to impress.

Road trips in CONCACAF play have tripped up the USMNT in recent years, with the Americans collecting just six points across seven World Cup qualifying away fixtures.

The U.S. has had significant historical success against El Salvador, however, winning 19 of their 25 all-time matchups and outscoring the Cuscatlecos by 45 goals.

The United States has avoiding defeat to El Salvador in the last 23 meetings, with the only loss coming in a friendly in early 1992.
