Early Voting wasn't quite seasoned enough to compete in the 24-horse Kentucky Derby field, according to jockey Jose Ortiz.
Ortiz's horse took the Run for the Black-eyed Susans in stylish fashion, trotting down the outside in the final stretch to win the 147th Preakness Stakes.
It was a blistering day at Pilmico Race Course. But it didn't seem to affect Early Voting too much, as the second-favorite claimed victory by about a length and a half over race favorite Epicenter
Owner Seth Klarman indicated that Early Voting likely won't take part in June's Belmont Stakes. However, he has certainly added his name to the rich history of Pilmico Race Course.
Post time for the 2022 Preakness Stakes is listed as 7:01 p.m. ET. The 1 3/16-mile race will be run at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore.
The Preakness will be the 13th race on Pimlico's Saturday race card. CNBC and NBC are carrying some of the early races.
